why did Tallahassee become the capital of the Florida territory.

After florida became a U.S territory in 1822, both St Augustine and Pensacola competed to become the state capital. Unable to come to an agreement, they decided to locate the capital between the two cities. Back in 1824, a log cabin in Tallahassee served as the first capital building.
