The type of bond that would most likely form between lithium and fluorine to make lithium fluoride would be an ionic bond. Lithium flouride is a compound of metal and nonmetal so we would really expect that ionic bonding is present. This type of bonding is a complete transfer of the electrons between the atoms involved.
