the selling price of the shoes is 290 $

let the cost of the shoes is x

then

1450 % of x will be 290 $

[tex]\begin{gathered} x\times\frac{1450}{100}=290 \\ x=\frac{290\times100}{1450}=20 \end{gathered}[/tex]

so the cost of the shoes is 20 $
